What is Nestler Boiler?

A Nestler boiler is a type of boiler which is an oil-fired horizontal multitube firetube boiler surrounded by water around the tubes, known as a nestler boiler.

This boiler is invented by Nestler Limited in 1970 and the company, Nestler ltd was established in 1958. A thick Mild steel layer is used as a boiler shell.

Parts of Babcock and Wilcox boiler-

This boiler consists of various parts or Boiler’s Mounting and Accessories and they are-

  1. Shell
  2. Burner
  3. Combustion Pipe
  4. Smoke Box
  5. Fusible Plug
  6. Chimney
  7. Pressure Gauge
  8. Steam Stop Valve
  9. Manhole
  10. Blow off cock
  11. Centrifugal pump

1. Shell-

The shell of this boiler is made up of thick mild steel plates to cover the boiler equipment inside and further protect the boiler from corrosion and environmental causes.

2. Burner-

Unlike other boilers, This boiler uses an air-fuel mixture to ignite combustion in the boiler. A burner is used to provide the combustion process in this boiler.

3. Combustion Pipe-

This is usually a large diameter of the pipe used to propagate hot gases or flue gases released from the burner.

This combustion pipe is also known as a flue pipe or hot flue gas pipe or flue tube.

4. Smoke Box-

There are two smoke boxes situated in this boiler, namely- the front smoke box and the rear smoke box.

Both smoke boxes are used to collect the flue gases coming from the flue pipe.

5. Fusible Plug-

This plug is installed in the smoke box area and This plug is used to provide safety for the boiler.

In case. the temperature or pressure of hot gases increases, It plugs get fused and ensure the safety of the boiler.

6. Chimney-

As you know, a chimney is an important part of any boiler used to release used hot flue gases into the atmosphere.

7. Pressure Gauge-

One of the essential tools of the boiler is a pressure gauge used to measure the pressure of the steam created inside the boiler.

8. Steam Stop Valve-

It is the door to take out generated steam and can be closed in case of no need for steam. Basically, It is a way to supply and stop supplying steam as per requirement.

9. Manhole-

As you might be familiar with this manhole, is used for cleaning and maintenance purposes.

10. Blow off cock-

A blow-off cock is installed at the bottom of the boiler and further used to drain the water as well as mud.

11. Centrifugal pump-

It is a boiler feed pump used to feed the water into the boiler at high pressure and motion.

Working of Nestler Boiler-

When the burner burns the mixture of air and fuel, hot flue gases are released into the flue tube due to the combustion of air and fuel.

Now, these hot gases travel through the flue tube and further into the rear smoke box.

The rear smoke box sends those collected hot flue gases into the front smoke box.

Now, collected hot gases in the front smoke box enter into the multiple small fire tubes.

These fire tubes are surrounded by water which gets heated by hot flue gases traveling inside the multiple fire tubes.

The working principle of the nastier boiler is heat exchange and due to this principle, water gets heated and further converted into steam.

As the water gets heated up to a boiling point, the water starts to get converted into steam and collected above the tube placement in the steam area.

This generated steam is now ready to be taken out from the steam stop valve.

This is how the Nestler boiler works.
